'project 3 reflection' Different
Looking back on the project, I think I did well at providing good interviews and setting up a good argument. The topic about tobacco is a good thing to talk about and it's important to this campus and the community as a whole. I learned that many people are willing to speak up about this topic. Even people who I just asked for conversation are having strong feelings whether it be for tobacco or against it. Students believe this is a very serious issue as well they should think it is, also I realized I myself had a strong opinion about this tobacco matter and I really would like for tobacco to be removed from all campus' or at least some restrictions and set zones to where these products can be used. From this paper I would work on a little of the formatting but I would need to work on recording in a area I can focus and try and get it right the first recording and not be somewhere where distractions can throw me off and make laugh or something of that matter and end up doing multiple recordings (speaking from personal experience from this project). Looking back at my project, I believe the argument I had was really strong and that I stated on which side I stood on with this topic with a good thesis and didn't have to come out and simply state " I don't want tobacco." Looking past this just being school work, I can use this for anytime I'm in an interview and being on the other end knowing what I need to do and not be nervous when being asking questions or being the one to ask them. Also, talking to people who are foreign to me will be easier when I can meet and greet people without being nervous upon meeting them. I wasn't the biggest fan of the papers and work we had to do, but they all made me view things from a different view and to look at things from another persons perspective and see if I can see things how someone would see them. That's important because people tend to be quick to judge when they first see things because they only look at it from how they would see it, but this is getting me away from looking at things from only how I would see it but as a person from all the way on the other side of the world may view things. This project opened my eyes to new things I may want to do with my major and also helped me with the exact job I want to get from my major and how part of the job works.

Script Draft : Smoking ban
Next summer Arizona State will be banning all tabacco products on campus. This ban will take place on all campus and since this has been announced it has seemed to be a highly concerned topic. Tabacco while not being a rather positive product seems to be a positive thing for students in a sense that it has brought those who want to keep it on campus closer together by trying to find solutions to present to those who are over this rule being proposed at Arizona State. Even those who are not for it are thinking of more reasons to why it shouldn't be allowed on campus. When asking students around campus this is what they stated.
Me: how do you feel about this restriction?
Kayla: I believe it's a good decision, students need to focus on more positive things that will benefit them and not things that can't impact them negatively.
Me: Would you get involved in any of the groups for or againist it?
Kayla: Not personally, I don't have a strong opinion on this, but I would not be for it if asked to choose a side.
Me: Some students say that they are adults and should have the freedom to what they feel, would you agree?
Kayla: No, yes you are an adult, but you should respect other people and how it affects them.
Me: What other reasons do you have for this ban?
Kayla: People seem to not respect the rules set for smoking, there should be set places for smoking to be allowed and for any tabacco use and when students don't respect the rules placed in front those privaliges should be taken away. Also, when students take cans of chew and throw them on the ground and litter it makes the Arizona State campus look bad and dirty. Also with ciggarette boxes around campus they also are found on the ground. Students also don't like the smell and it lingers in the air and pollutes the Arizona State campus with terrible smells that can stick to your clothing and other things that not all people want.
Students who are for the ban have great arguements on this ban and deserve to not have to deal with the problems that present themselves.

ASU Reacts
The author from last week talked about how the Bond' series has been facing a little bit of a slump and hasn't been around or talked about lately, but with the new release of the movie "Skyfall" is bringing the Bond' series back to life. The author states that the "old ways" of Bond' are being brought back to life and to the theaters. The main point and arguement it looks like the author was trying to point out was simply that even though there has been a drought of the James Bond trilogy that with this new movie being realeased, they have really gotten back to how things were and how they believe they should be. When asking a student on campus they stated ' it brought the Bond value and dynasty back to theaters and brought the old school Bond that everyone knew and loved back to theaters." In conclusion, it seems the author and the reviewers of this movie have come to an agreement that the Bond' trilogy is now back and to stay this time.

Genre Analysis: James Bond is back
Audio essays are very unique and indifferent in the way that, it could be read as a paper like any other you do, but when it's presented to an audience on the actual audio end of it, it sounds like there is an interview taking place instead of some paper and words you just read. Even though you must still type up a paper and have it there for reference, the real important part of the work is that you have a great audio recording of the work. The man speaking gave more of an overview and even though having a script, he just seemed to use natural ability and spokesmanship skills he had gained to just speak freely instead of reading straight off of the script which most audiences would prefer. With my personality being more open, I personally think my work with this will be a lot better because I like to have the freedom to say things that aren't exactly according to what is suppose to be said or just to mix it up because I do like to be considered different. As I stated earlier, the actual paper seemes to just be a simple reference that you can go to, but not exactly needed to complete the task at hand. Adding music, or sound effects to the audio also can keep the audience in tuned to the audio you present, in example, this article played the main theme song from the movie 'Skyfall' at the beggining which for James Bond fans you would catch onto and be attracted to that. Also, the end of the audio plays the song to let you know the end is coming for the audio.

'Project 2 Reflection' Uncertanity
Looking back on project 2, I'm feeling a bit of I think I did well, but at the same time I'm wondering if it's almost to good to be true. I did put in a lot of time and effort into making sure my rough draft was really well put together so I didn't have much to change in the final product, but I'm feeling a little bit of doubt with the project. I'm not sure I had any particular struggle, mainly the intro and reaching the 800 words would probably be the most difficult challenge I faced and for me wanting to exceed 2000 words to make sure I had enough information was the most difficult part. I learned that there are always pros and cons to any ting you look at and you have to take the most important parts out of it that affect you the most strongly and know you have to deal with the cons of things to. I don't think I will alter my writing based off this project because it didn't make me feel as if I need to change anything. I believe I evaluated really well and it dealt with a place I'm famaliar to me so I could give really good details on what it was and what made it positive. In the future and on improving this skill I will try and look deeper into things as the first project made us do and to see how that helps my evaluation skills and to explain things. Outside of this class and school, seeing the pros and cons to things will always be vital and having a understand of how things will affect me positively and negatively will always be important to understand.

"the pool"
One of the most entertaining and eye grabbing attractions that the Student Recreational Center complex provides is the pool. A pool has always been a great escape from reality, time spent in the pool seems to always be a good time. Whether it be for competition, exercise, or just to relax, the feeling of the water is just soothing and refreshing. The Student Recreational Centers pool provides many lanes for lap pool swimming, and as you work your way to the left from the side doors of the gym, it turns into more of the community pool feel where it's open and not to deep to where you can float around and partake in fun pool activities. The pool offers a small basketball hoop on one end so you can get your competitive juices flowing and still be in touch with the soothing feel of the water still. Although it's not the place of strong competition, the pool might provide the thing that doesn't take the most talent but uses simple human qualities to bring people of the Arizona State community closer and to make this a stronger community and for people to connect with people in a fun and safe way, with attempting to add something to the pool that is enjoyable for everyone who visit the pool area of the Student Recreational Center.
" the fields"
The other part to the Student Rec is the fields, where any sport that can be played outdoor is provided. Not only limited to sports, but events are held out there and they usually get hundreds of people involved in some sort of way to add some excitement to the Arizona State lifestyle. The fields are a multipurpose area and with the weather changing and not being ridiculously hot and not cold will become even more of a hot spot than it already was. Hosting many events like the flag football league that I actually took part in with real refs and many rules to give us football lovers about the closest take to something real. Also, Arizona State not having an actual school team for soccer, they have a club team that substitutes for that and the fields have been given the responsibility to host other schools on that field. Also, the fact that you can close down the fields, no matter the time of day, you can just go out and go for a run to get things off your mind, or even lay out and look at the stars to just have a nice relaxing night in the moon light and to just escape from reality for a little bit. The fields seem to give off the most use over other parts of the Student Recreational Center because it's open and can be used for your sports or even to walk a dog it's really your choice which is always good.
"the gym"
My personal favorite of all the things the Student Recreational Center provides are the multiple gyms for basketball they have. All my life I played basketball and never second guessed if it was the right sport for me. I love the fact that even though I'm not playing for an actual team anymore, I can still get out and run up and down the court with people who know how to play the game and get a feel for what I love. The part that's hard is it feeling like it's not enough. I love the game so much and never want to steer away from it, but it seems the feeling I once had isn't the same as what I get from playing up there. Yes you can still get a victory and play and play and play all you want, but what is the real goal? true, there are the Intramural that you have a real season and play for a championship, but outside Arizona State who would know of my success? I'm coming from being a three peat region champion and a state championship throughout high school, now it feels like I'm settling and it doesn't sit with me well and I don't know exactly what to do to get the feeling I once had back because it seems like I'm at a lost for that feeling right now. Just having talk in the gym with other players and hearing the constant complaint that we all have the same idea of how we want it to go, but if we never all speak up as one, how will it ever change. Talking to older students who say it's just how it is almost makes me feel hopeless for it to ever change to how we know we want it but nobody will speak out to say it.
"the weightroom"
The first place in the Student Recreational Center I'd like to talk about is the weight room. You can do all the work on the basketball court or football field, or whatever the sport may be you can practice it all day everyday. If you don't get in the weight room to do some type of strength building, it could almost be pointless. Throughout school, the thought of working out made me excited to be honest, i couldn't wait to go lift because I knew it would make a better athlete, player, and overall performer. Everyday the team would go straight to the weight room after school and would have reserved time slots to work out. Going to the weight room here is a little different, as big as it is, the one machine you need to get too could be being used and make you wait an hour or completely have to change the route you wanted to go. Also, on the other end, if you're using a machine or weight that another person needs, it seems they constantly hawk you or stare you down until you are complete. For me, it makes me want to rush to get done so I don't feel like I'm holding anyone up, but at the same time I don't get all I need to get out of my workout for myself. It's almost human nature that if you don't feel comfortable in a situation that you will veer away from it, and being at the gym and not liking the situation you're in can make you not want to go and to just give up because they don't want to work in the type of conditions the are presented.
Project 2 "SRC"
For project 2 I chose to do the Student Recreational Center, I believe that me being a former athlete, going to the gym or fields and participating in the sports that I once loved to play and was privileged to play because of making middle school, high school, and travel teams allowed me to grasp the full aspect I could at that time in life. The Student Recreational Center is a place of not only recreation and fitness, but also a place of connection and just to socialize with fellow Sun Devil students who want to escape from the scholar part of being in college and just want to relax and enjoy life. The Student Recreational Center not only includes a complex with multiple gyms to play basketball, racket ball courts, a huge community pool and lap pool, the weight room and conditioning units upstairs. For me, it's a little different. Every time I step foot in the gym there's a part of me wanting to get back the feeling I once had in high school. Just wanting to hear people coming together to cheer on my team and I as we took on a rival school. It almost seems the feeling is lost when I take part in the sports here. My main focus for this project will be that I want to talk about the perspective of athletes who take place in sporting events at the Recreational Center. When I was with my team, it felt like we were a gang of brothers, and we were the strongest gang out there, but we weren't out to do any bad, just to take on any challenge on the court and come out successful. Now, going to play in the gym isn't the same, meeting new people is of course very important but when it comes to sports, you almost unknowingly create a family and you learn what there strengths and weakness are. Knowing your team or having "chemistry" is vital to be successful in sports because you need to make those five guys on the court work as one. As the motto my team stuck by " one team, one goal, one vision." Personally, I just don't think the feeling can really be brought back as it once was, it almost is like reliving a moment that seems impossible. I'm not sure if this is every one's view, but for me I don't have the same drive I did, in high school it was I "WILL" be going to the gym to play basketball or workout everyday, now it's "i might" go later or tomorrow because I don't get the same rush I once had. It makes me ponder the thought that it's not even due to the lack of competition, but to the fact that I don't know the people I'm with or feel the same pressure or drive because if I want I don't have to do all the things I did to play in high school. I'm a student at Arizona State, whenever I want to go play I can without anyone stopping me. I personally believe that is what makes the Student Recreational Center a huge benefit to the campus because I would rather be able to stay in touch with things I love to do even if it's not the full aspect I'm used too, than to have to forget about it completely and leave it alone. I'm not 100% sure everyone can relate to what I'm trying to say, but throughout this project I hope to be able to give you more understanding and real personal insight to this sense I deal with this myself.
The Student Recreational Center provides the Arizona State campus and students with a positive escape from reality. When you're happy, sad, or mad, you can always take a trip to the Student Recreational Center to relieve any stress or just go on a walk at the fields to just enjoy the beautiful Arizona weather. I've always believed the Student Recreational Center and fields provide one of the most essential and positive atmospheres to this campus, and with building of the new Student Recreational CenterI believe it will give even more students who don't like being in some what crowded areas a chance to enjoy themselves.

Research sources: SRC
The proposed topic I chose for Project 2 was the Student Recreational Center. The reason behind wanting to explore this place is because it's somewhere I can relate too and a place I spend tons of time as it is, so I believe if I do a project on it then I'll force myself to become more engaged into what I'm doing for the project. I will evaluate the Student Recreational Center by visiting there many times and getting a even closer look at what it does for the Arizona State community.
The first source I used was the book "Sports and recreation V.16" by Harvey Jackson III. It is around 300 pages long and really focuses on what is done with leisure time in the south. Also put a strong emphasis on Mississippi State and North Carolina Universities, and what took place at those schools for leisure time. Having family from the south and constantly visiting down there, it's not a very exciting place to be for me and seems isn't much activity, so the book kind of hit home for me when looking over it.
The second source for the project is a scholarly article called "Understanding Sense of Community From the Athlete's Perspective" by Stacy Warner of East Carolina University & Marlene A. Dixon of University of Texas. They discuss how relationships seem to just build easy and quickly when you're taking place in your sport or activity, as to where when you aren't taking place in a sport.
The last source was an online source written by Lori Murray, named " Rec Center Wars: Colleges Use State-of-the-Art Facilities to Woo Students." This article was interesting because it stated how the Rec was being used in a sense that athletes were given an opportunity to be seen and maybe even asked to take part in being on the school team based off performance in the rec. The article was only about a page long.

Evaluation
When I saw we needed something to evaluate, I wasn't 100% sure on what exactly I wanted to use to evaluate. When I first saw this, I was going to go with a movie, but it seems rather simple to say that the plot is going to be hard to keep up with so i wanted to go with something a little different. I'm going to go with how the video game NBA2k13 has been changed from its previous games. Now, a video game is suppose to be the virtual epidemic of a real life basketball game. The experiecne is suppose to be virtually the same, by adding little details hear and there to the game, it seems to add the full experience of a real life situational in the NBA. For me, and i'm sure tons of other people who enjoy video games love the reality of the game and constantly complain of what isn't exactly "real" in the game. This years version of the game seems to cover all aspects that people were not happy about. The glitching in the game seems to be almost unseen, the running into other players without penalty of falling or losing the ball is all not intact anymore. This game has been revolutionized to shape a real life experience of what actual NBA players can do and do in real life.
Nobody can expect the video game to be the exact real experience, but for there 60 dollars spent on the game, every buyer wants to recieve the most from there gamer experience and 2k13 has been able to reveil that in this years version of 2k13.

Project 1 Reflection :expanding
After doing the work for Project 1, it's really making me look at things for more than the obvious reason that it is what it is. Personally, i believe what i did well in the project was getting the length with having good topics too talk about and not rambling on about stuff that would be irrelevant to what the actual focus of the paper was. I would say my biggest struggle in the beginning was the length and the actual task at hand. I wasn't very sure that i really knew what the point behind the project was. It felt I was doing the right thing, but at the same time felt as if I was doing things that fell under the category of the do not's of this project, so I'd say grasping the full concept of the project really kept me guessing if i knew what i was doing. Next paper i will for sure take more and better notes to have more to work with towards the end of the paper so I'm not stuck thinking about what else i can add to the paper to make it better, and also to ask questions or to see examples of past papers to have a complete understanding of what the task at hang is. From my understanding of the project, i would say i went as far in depth as i could with it and covered all the things i needed to cover to have a positive grade on the paper. This project has shown me too look passed what is already shown and given to you, to look in a sense passed what the normal human eye would look at and see, to try and find what other meaning the object, place, or thing can hold as a purpose or value other than what the obvious and blatant reason is.

An Analysis Of An Image With GQ Magazine by
Randyll Roberts
9/9/12
GQ Magazine Analysis
GQ magazine is known as the male fashion magazine. The most well known celebrities that are male are dressed to there best to display what is considered to be the hottest fashion or considerably the best looking clothing there is to purchase and wear. This issue has the well known actor Channing Tatum dressed up in casual wear with the clean cut and looking presentable. Why would they chose Channing Tatum as the cover photo? Most people are pretty familiar with [him] as an actor and his work. Also, many females consider him to be appealing to the eye. GQ was trying to present a idol that people look up too and too show viewers that looking or dressing how Channing Tatum does would make the ordinary male more appealing to women or to those around. The cover also shows headlines for articles that state things such as "Girls love a man who dresses sharp" and they state they can show you how to dress apart from the rest of the males. GQ magazine realizes that putting an important iconic figure on the front of there cover can make men think that if I dress, look, and follow the rules of this magazine then maybe we can have the life that he has or at something close. Another statement is made about "Channing Tatum, All American Action Hero" , which puts ideas in the head that this guy must really make a difference, if i can start to do some things he does or have the attitude and live my life the way he does, maybe i will be viewed as he is.
No matter what the picture is, the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words" will always be relevant. By reading the headlines you could always find out what it was saying, but when you look at the picture it makes you look a little more in depth about what the picture is saying. If there were no words on the cover, one could assume that they were advertising for a new clothing company, or the new fall or winter style, just a bunch of thoughts come into play rather they're correct or not wouldn't matter because it's all up to you and what you think of it.

Assignment #2
9/2/2012
My blog will discuss the problems that students and faculty faced at Harvard with a final
that was taken in May. The article is named "Allegations of widespread cheating in government class
probed at Harvard." The article was written by By Julia Talanova and Jason Kessler with CNN. The
main audience they intended to focus on seemed to be the faculty and to reach out to the other
schools about how even a top notch school such as Harvard can even deal with issues that seem
to be more elementary.
The main focus with the authors were to to show the readers that schools all over face problems of
cheating and with schooling issues. Harvard is possibly the best school in the country and they even
deal with issues with schooling. Issues as big as almost 300 students cheating on a take home test that
the students were given the option to open book and open notes. The students of one of the top Ivy
league programs is having to check the students of the school for a class on the intro to justice to see
if students who did cheat should have to sit out a year of school.
The authors recieved information from the faculty on campus to get a better understanding of what
was going on with situation and too know what the punishment or outcome of the situation would
be if the students were found guilty of cheating or plagarism on the test. The school has been
investigating the issue sense may and with the school week starting the next week they will
quickly have to come to conclusion on if the students are guilty of false testing and if they will
be allowed to take apart in the next academic semester or if they will have to wait till the
following year to pick back up in academic affairs.
